THE ZR10

The Zr10 started life as a 2.2 5 speed truck, I bought it for 500 dollars in 2014 from my uncle when I was 15 and had no clue how to drive a standard transmission. It was that or Ford Focus. I believe I made the right choice. It was a battle to learn at first but little did I know it would become a staple in my life, this truck will NEVER have a “automagic” trans in it. I turned 16 and wanted the itch for more power, unfortunately due to my mothers wishes I could only swap in a 4.3/nv3500 5 speed in, so in 2016 I took action! At this time the truck was still nameless and still needing more power. I turned 18 and immediately started gathering parts for the ls swap, the plan was simple stock 5.3/nv3500. After all this was still my daily driver. I had a friend swap in the 5.3 and make the harness to correspond with my factory gauges and in late 2018 I was driving it. The first LS motor in the truck was actually the worst motor I could’ve got… a water damaged L59 5.3 that was submerged for 9 days and then sat for 2 years, it was only $200. Surely enough my friend unlocked the motor and it ran for 2 years every day. There was some hiccups of course which every swap has, electrical problems, tuning problems and a blown up rear end was the vast majority of them. However I did put it in a ditch and destroyed the bed side, hence why it was gold for 2 years. Flash forward to 2020, I finally got another daily driver.. another 2.2 5 speed truck, the S10LIFE shop truck. Nowadays the ZR10 is getting prepared for complete restoration, new suspension, recoating the frame, new black paint and a completely rebuilt aluminum LM4 5.3 with 0 mile remanufactured T56 with a BTR 218/224 .553/.553 lift cam. Unfortunately it wont be my daily driver but it’ll definitely be the truck I have always dreamed about since I was 15.
